Acne is one of the most widespread diseases in the world and it infects people from all the different regions and societies but it is more common in men than women. Although females suffer less acne but the pattern of acne is still the same in both the sexes. Just like men, women also suffer from acne in their teenage and that continues in their late 30's.

Most of the girls try to hide their acne pimples and scars or make them less visible with makeup. Though makeup can help to make pimples less visible for some time but, in the long run, it makes acne worse. So girls should be really careful about using makeup on their acne infected areas. Here are some of the common mistakes that women usually commit that makes acne severe

One of the common mistakes that women make is that they do not take off their makeup after coming back from parties and going to bed. This can have an adverse effect on acne and it makes acne worse. Another big mistake is the use of night creams on oily skin. If your skin is already oily, there is no need for applying night creams before going to bed.

If you have a sensitive skin or you suffering from acne, you should use a mild soap like baby soap because it irritates the skin least. Washing your face twice a day with a good antiseptic or baby soap can make your face clean but remember one thing that you cannot wash away the pimples. Some people think that washing your face improves acne.

It is mainly due to the myth that acne is due to dust. Acne is mainly because of excess sebum production on face and washing your face might take off the sebum for half an hour or so and it makes the pimple less visible by making it less shiny. But washing face cannot stop the sebaceous glands from producing sebum. As a matter of face, continual washing your face can make the skin more painful.

You should also be careful about the use of makeup on face if you are suffering from acne. Always use water based makeup rather than oil based. If you are not sure about whether the makeup is water based or oil based, just let it stay undisturbed for some time. If it separates into water and powder, it is water based and if it remains intact, it is oil based.
